Recently, my family and my friend’s family took a trip to a beautiful place named Clare Valley! We stayed in a cozy Airbnb that’s in an isolated spot near a calm, flowing stream and a very large vineyard filled with vines in long rows. But before we got to see that, we had to drive there. It was such a long drive, almost two and a half hours to get there. But it was worth it for sure. A few minutes before we got to the Airbnb, we went on a dirt road that led there. There was a natural stone bridge that went over the stream I was talking about.
Once we had got there, me and Ayden (my friend) rushed inside to look around. It was really big, the first room we saw was the living room, which had a small tv and a traditional-style brick fireplace, a shelf full of board games and a soft, comfortable couch. After that, we saw the kitchen, which looked very modern; it had marble countertops. But before me and Ayden really looked at the kitchen, we grabbed some of the Mentos we saw at the counter.
After exploring a bit me and Ayden chose which room would be ours. We chose a room with two beds and a small wooden nightstand. A bit later, after relaxing, we went on a small walk to check out the area. First, we went on the main path, but it was just a straight dirt path. So then we took the path that led us through the vineyard, where we saw kangaroos and rabbits. We think we might even have seen a deer. The sun was slowly starting to set, so we started going back.
We made a pillow fort with 3 blankets, 13 pillows, heavy items such as a suitcase, and we used the two beds to hold the blankets up. Then we noticed it was a bit dark inside of the fort so we brought a bright lamp from my parents’ bedroom to light it up. Until then, we weren’t letting the parents see what we were doing because we wanted them to be surprised. Then we told the parents we were sleeping in it tonight, but they said they still needed some pillows for themselves. For dinner, we had biryani. It was probably the best biryani I’ve ever had. Before we slept, we watched funny YouTube videos that made us laugh so hard. Then we went to bed.
As soon as I woke up I woke Ayden up so we could go on an early morning walk. This time we were walking a bit slower to take in the sights when we saw something we somehow didn’t see yesterday. There was a pile of bones. I asked him if he knew what type of bones, but he didn’t. Then he said, imagine if they were human bones. I told him I think they might be kangaroo bones. Ayden used his phone to take a picture. We went through the vineyard again and saw the sun rise. He also took a photo of that. As we walked through the vineyard, we sang our favourite songs by Boywithuke. We sang Migraine, Lovesick, Out of reach and Understand. I had so much fun.
Then we walked to the telephone tower we saw the other day, which was on the other side of the vineyard. Once we got near it, we realised there was a fence around it. Then we got curious about what was behind it. It was really beautiful; it looked like a mini jungle. There were also cool, colourful birds in there. We really wanted to go back there, but there was a fence, and Ayden said there might be snakes. And that’s when we decided to go back. When we got back, it was almost breakfast. We were having bread, bacon and eggs. It was so tasty. Then we decided we wanted to try to solve a 500-piece puzzle. We first did the edges of the puzzle because that’s how people normally solve them. After completing the edges, we had a break and watched more YouTube. For lunch, we were going to a restaurant so we had to get ready. Before we had lunch we went to a wine tasting place, it was really boring there. When we got to the restaurant we looked at the menu. They had stuff like steak, pizza, burgers and the most popular foods other than that. I wanted steak and a burger but I knew I couldn’t eat that much. So me and my dad shared the two foods. My dad said the steak was kind of mid. Ayden had a burger. After that me and ayden had a small walk near a stream near the restaurant. There were lots of ducks there.
After we had lunch, we went back to the Airbnb. Where me and Ayden made some lemonade with the lemons in the house. We were going to make some for everybody but one of the lemons wasn’t good so we just had enough for us. They tasted pretty good. We played inside of the fort for a bit and then our dads went to get pizza. While we waited, we continued the puzzle. But there were no more pieces when we finished, even though there were still spaces so we thought some of them were missing. By the time we had finished, the pizzas were ready. Me and Ayden shared a pepperoni pizza. It wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had but it was fine. Me and Ayden stayed up late and talked. I slowly fell asleep. When I woke up the next day the parents were already awake and packing because we were leaving today. I didn’t want to, though, because it was fun there. Around 10, we left in the morning.
Review – 4.5/5
I would definitely go again because the trip was really fun and relaxing. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, with peaceful views that made the whole trip feel special. The house we stayed in was very nice and comfortable, which made it feel like a home away from home. I enjoyed every moment there and honestly wish I didn’t have to leave, because it was such a calm and enjoyable place to be.
